The reasons people snore when they sleep is because of blockage in their air passage. Irregular airflow causes vibration in the throat muscles, and the sound of the vibration is what we called snoring
Now, snoring sufferers are prone to experiencing blockage in the air passage during sleep because of the following reason:
(1) Smoking habit which can severally obstruct the airway one’s throat. And that’s not all. This nasty habit can also affect the strength of one’s throat.
Now, you might be asking, “say what? My throat strength?” What has that got to do with reasons people snore?
Well, that’s reason number (2).
Snoring sufferers usually have weak throat muscles. Their throats close up rather easily when they are asleep so when this happens, the airway gets blocked. And when your airway is obstructed, vibration occurs.
Here’s another reason…
The way you sleep. See, if you sleep with your back flat on the surface, the tongue tends to slip slightly downwards - obstructing your throat in the process. Being on the overweight side can cause snoring as well. That extra body fat tends to surround the area of one’s throat causing irregular air flow which naturally, leads to snoring with capital Z’s!
So, these are some of the causes of snoring and there are many treatments available to combat this problem. Snoring aids are widely available e.g. anti snore pillow, mouthpiece, pills etc. If you want to save money, then you might want to give throat exercises a shot. The exercises are meant to improve the strength of your throat thus minimizing the occurrence of snoring.
